Grace Johnston founded Music for Minors 45 years ago in Los Altos, Calif., and her legacy lives on in a big way: The nonprofit has just received a $500,000 donation from an anonymous donor, its biggest in its history, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
"This donation is made with great appreciation for the beautiful contributions Music for Minors continues to make for the lives and joy of children through music," the donor said in a statement. "I am sure Grace is cheering for you all."
Over the next three years, the money will be used to expand the organization's music education programs in schools.
MFM currently serves 20,000 students in kindergarten through sixth grade in 800 classrooms at 48 schools.
