Restaurants overflow with brunch-goers, and social media platforms are awash with glowing tributes to maternal love and sacrifice," writes Rose Yusuph in Time.
"The day is marked by a palpable energy that celebrates the nurturing, unwavering presence of mothers in our lives."
But on Father's Day, "the gifts lean towards the practicalties, tools, gadgetsaccompanied by simpler, less elaborate celebrations," writes Yusuph.
"This disparity can be partly attributed to traditional societal roles where fathers have been viewed predominantly as providers rather than nurturers," she writes.
"This historical framework has fostered a distance, often resulting in a weaker emotional bond between fathers and their children."
Today's fathers "are changing diapers, attending school events, and engaging in bedtime stories, creating deeper connections with their children," writes Yusuph.
"Fathers deserve to be celebrated not only for their indispensable role as providers but also for their profound contributions as caregivers, mentors, and role models," she writes.
"By acknowledging and celebrating these multifaceted contributions, we not only honor fathers but also strengthen familial bonds."
