Emerging Fundraising

The UN's children's agency is trying to use technology to change the way it does business.

UNICEF's Innovative Finance Hub has launched a project called "Transforming Lives: Achieving Positive Impact for Children," which aims to use technologies such as blockchain, Web3, AI, and metaverse to "revolutionizing the impact of giving," the New York Times reports.

"We want to understand challenges deeply and transform them into solutions that are effective, practical, and sustainable, ultimately delivering significant positive outcomes for children," a UNICEF spokesperson says.

Among the solutions being tested: a mobile app that connects donors to UNICEF-funded projects in developing countries, and a website that allows people to donate directly to UNICEF projects, the Times notes.

"We want to develop solutions that enhance transparency, efficiency, and donor engagement, revolutionizing the impact of giving," the spokesperson says.

"Emerging technologies such as blockchain, Web3, AI, metaverse, and gaming platforms can enable transparent supply chains and create immersive experiences that showcase the positive impact of support on children's well-being."
