Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children's Hospital have come together to create the Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, and it's got a new chief medical officer in place.

Andrew Place, PhD, will oversee all clinical operations for both institutions, including oncology and hematopoietic stem cell transplant programs, per a press release.

"I look forward to working closely with our clinicians to deliver innovative, compassionate, and patient-centered care to children and young adults with cancer and blood disorders," says Place, who received his PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Dartmouth in 2004 and his MD from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in 2006.

Place has been an attending physician at the Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Cancer Center since 2012, and has led the Pediatric Hematological Malignancies Program there for the past six years.

He's also served as the chief medical officer of Boston Children's Institutional Centers for Clinical and Translational Research, per the release.

Lisa Diller, who's been chief medical officer at BCH since 2007, will step down at the end of 2023, the release notes.
