When a Pennsylvania bomb squad offered to wiring their expertise to create beeping Easter eggs seven years ago, the idea was born.

Now, kids with visual impairments in the area can participate in an egg hunt specifically designed for them, WNEP reports.

"It represents a fantastic opportunity for children with visual impairments to engage in meaningful play, learn valuable skills, and enjoy the company of peers facing similar challenges," says a press release from Northeast Sight Services, which is partnering with the local bomb squad and Community Services for Sight to organize the annual Beeping Egg Hunt on March 24 in Wilkes-Barre.

The eggs are wired to emit a beeping sound when they're placed in the ground.

The event, which has grown in popularity over the years, features a wide range of games and crafts for kids of all ages.

"It also serves as a platform for visually impaired children to connect, share experiences, and build friendships," says the press release.

"Not only does it provide a unique and enjoyable experience for visually impaired children, but it also fosters a sense of belonging and accomplishment."
