When it comes to luggage, "high-end, impractical choices and affordable but poorly constructed alternatives" are the norm, and Shay Mitchell felt "desperately needed."
That's why the 36-year-old actress and entrepreneur launched BEIS Kids, a line of travel bags specifically designed for children, last year.
Inspired by her own daughters, 4-year-old Atlas and 20-month-old Rome, Mitchell's goal was "to create a line of travel bags that didn't force parents to choose between style, functionality, and affordability," per a press release.
BEIS Kids is now available at Macy's, Kohl's, Walmart, and other retailers, and the bags are also available online.
"The inclusion of a whistle on backpacks, for example, came from a blend of practical safety considerations and a recognition of what delights children," writes Mitchell.
"Their experiences and feedback are crucial in shaping the future of the collection, ensuring that it remains relevant and responsive to the needs of traveling families."
She adds, "In a world where parents are constantly bombarded with choices, BEIS Kids stands out by offering a balance of quality, design, and practicality."
