Colorful Angular Tents Shape Puzzle-Like Zanya Pavilion in Northern Uganda

"The world of reality has limits, the world of imagination is boundless."

So reads Jean-Jacques Rousseau in one of his famous works, and that quote has inspired a pavilion designed by two students in Uganda.

The Zanya Pavilion is part of the Wokober Toy and Innovation Festival, which aims to promote creativity and innovation in children's toys in a region that faces challenges in education, reports Fast Company.

The pavilion, a key part of the festival, was designed by Charles Kalungi and Francis Mpano of Makerere University in collaboration with the Uganda Society of Architects, the Wokober Education Foundation, and various architecture schools in the country, reports Architectural Digest.

It's a puzzle-like space with reusable, locally sourced materials such as bamboo and vibrant polyethylene sacks, serving as a multifaceted toy for the 85 children participating in the festival.

"Its composition, appreciated from various angles, adds an element of intrigue to the temporary space, embodying the spirit of creativity and innovation that the festival aims to cultivate," the foundation says.
