In the event of a pandemic or other disaster, children's health could be at risk, and two federal agencies are looking for innovators to help.
The Health and Resources Services Administration and the Pediatric Pandemic Network are offering a total of $5 million in funding to help fund the development of "medical countermeasures" for kids, a press release notes.
"Children are our future, and our ability to improve care during emergencies, disasters, and pandemics is of national importance," says Kolaleh Eskandanian, Ph.D., vice president and chief innovation officer at Children's National Hospital, which is hosting the competition.
"We recognize that innovating for children involves a myriad of unique challenges, which is why we are providing funding and support resources to those innovations that rise to the top in the competition," Eskandanian says.
The deadline for applications is Feb.
