"We have to make our youth capable of using technology.
They have to be encouraged for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Only then will they be able to make their rightful place in this rapidly changing world."
That's what India's president, Droupadi Murmu, said Monday at a ceremony in New Delhi, where she handed out awards to 19 children, the Times of India reports.
The kids were honored in five categories: Bravery, Science & Technology, Innovation, Sports, and Art and Culture.
"They have immense potential to create their own identity through dedication and hard work," Murmu said, per India.com.
"It is our duty to show them the right direction so that they can utilize their talent and energy properly."
Murmu also warned against using social media to spread rumors.
"Many crimes like deep fake, financial fraud, and exploitation of children are being committed through technology," she said, per India.com.
"We have to make our youth capable of using technology.
But technology is often misused also," she added.
"Many diseases which used to be very rare in children and youth are increasing today.
She said that due to less physical activity many diseases which used to be very rare in children and youth are increasing today
