Bill Bennett, former education secretary and author of The Book of Virtues, has a message for parents: Get your kids to read.
In a Fox News op-ed, Bennett writes that "American education is in the midst of a crisissomething concerned parents all over the country know well," and that "for all the misguided COVID policies, one silver lining is that American parents are more sensible and concerted in addressing problems with one concerted effort."
That effort, he writes, is Amira Learning, a "groundbreaking project that focuses on character education, through an innovation grant."
Amira, he says, "provides individualized assistance to children read, and provides character education that all parents need; it generates a detailed assessment for each child that teachers, tutors, parents can use to help guide the student to success in life."
South Carolina, he adds, has "remained intelligently focused on values over the years, no matter how the political winds have blown."
