Gizmodo calls it "the most technologically advanced toy ever created for children," and the Consumer Electronics Show calls it "groundbreaking in every way."
The toy, called Peel & Play, is an educational triangle that's shaped like an orange, and it's designed to help kids ages 2 to 8 reduce stimming by providing them with tactile feedback and the ability to shape the object using magnets.
It also has an app that tracks the child's behavior and uses cutting-edge technology to measure repetitive body movements and behavioral traits, per a press release.
The toy's creator, Canadian inventor Solive Venture, says stimming can lead to social isolation, so the toy is designed to help bridge that gap.
"Traditionally, stimming has often led to social isolation due to misunderstandings about its intent," says Solive's CEO.
"The Peel & Play toy seeks to bridge this gap, providing sensory outlet to reduce stimming, in turn, improving the child's social development."
The toy will be on the market in August 2023, and it's already been named a CES Innovation Award Honoree in Digital Health and will be featured at the annual gadget show in January, per a release
