Edmonton, Canada, may become the first Canadian city to offer free public transit to kids under the age of 12, the CBC reports.
According to the Edmonton Journal, the city's current transit policy requires kids under the age of 12 to be accompanied by a fare-paying adult to get on a bus, train, or streetcar.

Edmonton Transit Service estimates the change would cost about $900,000 in revenue, the Journal reports.
According to the CBC, kids under the age of 12 currently pay $2.50 for a monthly pass.
