The world is facing a serious food shortage, and the UK is hoping to change that.
Prime Minister David Cameron announced today that the country will host a summit on food security on Nov.
20 to "turn the dial" on the problem, the Telegraph reports.
According to a press release, current issues include conflict, climate change, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
"Climate change, conflict, the long-term impacts of Covid-19, and the effects on global food supply of Russia's invasion of Ukraine are the main drivers of current food insecurity," Cameron said.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is helping the UK find solutions to these issues, including "more nutritious, resilient crop varieties and innovation to tackle pests and diseases," the press release says.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is also working to prevent and reduce the deaths of children caused by famine and child wasting.
