If you're in the market for a new baby blanket, you may want to check out MAKUKU, a Chinese brand that's raising eyebrows with its line of high-end swaddles.
Quartz reports that the company, founded by a man who used to be the head of overseas marketing for smartphone maker OPPO, has raised more than $100 million in a fundraising round that values the brand at more than $1 billion.
Jiang Zhengzhen, the man behind MAKUKU, says the money will be used to expand into Indonesia, the Philippines, and the Middle East.
The company's line of swaddles, which Quartz describes as being in the $90 to $100 price range, include a bamboo one that's designed to keep babies warm in winter and a bamboo and cotton one that's designed to keep babies warm in summer.
Jiang says the company's goal is to provide babies with "more comfortable and safer products," and Quartz reports that the company's line of swaddleswhich Quartz describes as being in the $90 to $100 price rangehas already been tested in clinical trials and is said to be safe for babies up to 18 months old.
