"Science, technology, engineering, and math...
are the foundation of technological and scientific advances that pervade nearly every aspect of our daily lives."
So reads a press release from 3M, which is teaming up with Mexico's kidzania to encourage young children to pursue science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers.
The interactive entertainment and educational space, called the Innovation and Technology Workshop, opened in Mexico City last week, and it's designed "to foster interest and passion towards STEM careers in children from an early age," says a 3M rep.
Kids can participate in activities that "foster critical thinking and problem solving, key skills for the future," the release notes, and 3M adds that "by supporting children on the path to these disciplines, we are creating the potential for future innovations and breakthroughs that will benefit humanity."
It's not the first time 3M and kidzania have teamed up: Last year, the companies opened a similar space in Boston, the Boston Globe reported at the time.
"Encouraging children with the necessary tools to become conscientious and innovative professionals is an essential task to pave the way towards a better and prosperous future," says Javier Lopez Ancona, kidzania's president, per Nation World News.
