Colombia's government is making good on a promise to provide every student in the country with a laptop.
The country's minister of information and communications technology gave away 3,000 computers to students in the central town of Nari ? o last week, the BBC reports.
"We are transforming the education of children and adolescents in all regions of the country, because technology is the gateway to a world of possibilities that is at the forefront of this century's progress," the minister said, per Nation.
The laptops, which cost $4,500 million, are factory-installed with educational content for English, science, math, and programming, the BBC notes.
Colombia's government has also announced plans to connect 163 municipalities in the Pacific region with high-speed Internet.
