A Kansas meat-packing plant is getting $500,000 from the state to build a daycare center for the children of its 1,500 employees, the Hutchinson News reports.
The Walnut Valley Learning Center is expected to open this fall in Arkansas City.
"I felt like our project pretty much lined up with exactly what they were looking for," Alex Munoz, Creekstone Farms' human resources director, tells the Kansas City Star.
The company has invested $3.5 million in the project, which will include developmental screenings and other services for children up to preschool age.
It's not clear how much employees will pay for care, but Munoz says there could be exceptions.
"The question has arisen, would we allow that kid to continue attending our learning center, and I don't have that answer," he says.
