"It kills human ingenuity," says Jim O'Shaughnessy, a legendary Wall Street investor and founder of O'Shaughnessy Ventures.
That's why he's invested in a company called Synthesis School, which aims to "prepare children for tackling complex challenges and advancing human civilization," according to its website.
The Los Angeles Times reports the company was founded in 2015 by Joshua Dahn, who worked with Elon Musk on a school for the children of SpaceX employees.
O'Shaughnessy Ventures is now investing in the company, according to a press release.
Tuned-in parents already understand that the ability to solve complex problems is the most valuable skill and something that is rarely taught or practiced in traditional schools, O'Shaughnessy tells the Times.
According to the press release, Synthesis teaches problem-solving, collaboration, and communication through "team thinking games."
It also focuses on "soft skills often overlooked in traditional school environments," according to the press release.
Jim and his team see the pervasive problems with the industrial-educational complex, Chrisman Frank, Synthesis' CEO, says in the press release.
