Mayor Adams Announces Creation Of First-ever Mayor's Office Of Child Care And Early Childhood

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has created a new office to advocate for child care and early childhood education in the city, the New York Daily News reports.

"Not only will the new Mayor's Office for Child Care and Early Childhood Education provide our early childhood students and their families with the support systems they need, but with Dr. Michelle Paige at the helm, I know we will give every child the opportunity to succeed," Adams says in a press release.

"Early learning is the key to success for young children, and this administration is committed to making sure that all our children receive the support they need so that they can thrive both inside and outside of the classroom."

Paige, who will be the first executive director of the Office for Child Care and Early Childhood Education, says she's "thrilled" to be part of the team that will work to make child care and early childhood education in New York City more affordable and accessible.

According to the New York Times, more than a third of children in New York City are in child care or early childhood education programs that are either too expensive or not available at all.

The new office, which will coordinate with other city agencies, is part of Adams' "Blueprint for Child Care and Early Childhood Education...
