Atlanta's St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital is making a big change, naming its first chief business innovation officer.
Catherine Corbin will work with President and CEO James Downing on the hospital's $12.9 billion, six-year strategic plan, which the hospital says is the largest investment in St.
Jude's history to study and develop treatment of pediatric cancer and other serious illnesses, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
"Catherine's creativity and vision will help bring our bold plan to life," Downing said in a statement.
Before joining St.
Jude, Corbin spent four years at IDEO, most recently as a partner and managing director of the Chicago studio.
She has "long admired and respected the mission of St.
Jude," Downing said in a statement.
"This position is the perfect nexus of my career experience in design, health care, and business."
In other hospital news: Dr. Bryan Kelly is set to become the first surgeon to lead Hospital for Special Surgery, the 160-year-old academic medical system focused on musculoskeletal health.
He will succeed Louishapiro, the current president and CEO, in a phased transition over the course of 2023.
