Parents in North Carolina's Wake County have a lot to choose from when it comes to their children's education.
There are 58 magnet schools in the district, and the schools offer a variety of learning options, from traditional public schools to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) programs to charter schools and private schools.
But there's one school in particular that's getting a lot of attention, per the News & Observer: Wiley International Studies Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh, which was named the best magnet elementary school in the country by Magnet Schools of America this year.
The school offers students in kindergarten through fifth grade a variety of academic pathways, including STEM, Arts Plus, Gifted and Talented, Global Studies and Language Immersion, and the International Baccalaureate.
"The impact these programs have had on students is undeniable and Wake County invites parents to consider becoming part of this nationally recognized legacy," says Kimberly Lane, senior director of magnet and curriculum enhancement programs for Wake County Public School System.
But there's one school in particular that's drawing attention, and it's not a traditional public school: It's the only one in the state to be named a charter school by the state education department, reports the Raleigh News & Observer.
