The World Economic Forum is holding its annual meeting in Switzerland this week, and one country is making a big show of it: Saudi Arabia.
The country's ministers of foreign affairs, industry, and mineral resources, as well as the country's ambassador to the US, met with the WEF's leadership to "explore areas of mutual interest," according to a press release from the forum.
Among other things, they discussed the country's untapped mining industry, as well as its role as a "pioneering partner" in the WEF's Global Collaboration Village, which will "leverage the metaverse to serve the global community," per the press release.
Saudi Arabia also plans to build a house in the village, which "will be used as a tool for attending events, interacting with people, sharing knowledge, and making announcements," the release notes.
The announcement was made during a meeting between Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the WEF, and Saudi Arabia's minister of economy and planning, Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef.
"In recognizing the crucial role international cooperation plays in ensuring global stability, Saudi Arabia is stepping up its efforts on the world stage to act as a bridge of near-term stability and long-term transformation,"
