The business case for a new children's hospital in Cambridge, England, has been submitted to government authorities, and the Telegraph reports that the plan is to open the country's first such hospital in 2020.
The idea is to offer a one-stop shopping for children's health care in the East of England, with services including mental health, physical health, and research under one roof.
"A tremendous amount of work has gone into the submission and it's exciting to see our plans take shape around our unique visionbringing physical and mental health together and using genomic medicine to personalise care for our region's young people and their individual needs," Alex White, project director for Cambridge Children's Hospital, says in a press release.
The business case states that the hospital will "generate national and international impact" by integrating mental and physical health services under one roof, and will "provide personalized holistic care, changing the lives of millions of children and young people in the East of England and beyond."
