"While our road to Baldrige continues, this achievement is a testament to our staff who successfully works collaboratively across all disciplines to ensure the most innovative and effective systems that patients and families can count on are in place."
Those are the words of Valley Children's Hospital's VP of Quality, Patient Safety, and Clinical Value after the California hospital was named the only children's hospital in the state to receive the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
The California Council for Excellence announced the honor for Valley Children's as one of six honorees in the state for outstanding commitment to sustainable excellence through innovation, continuous improvement, and visionary leadership, per a press release.
The Baldrige National Quality Award is the highest formal recognition of performance excellence in the country.
Valley Children's made the decision in 2021 to pursue the award, which recognizes US, healthcare, education, and nonprofit sectors for performance excellence.
"Performance excellence, exceptional patient safety and quality, and continuous quality improvement are hallmarks of Valley Children's, and we knew that the Baldrige process would only further strengthen our organization," Valley Children's President and CEO Todd Suntrapak says in the press release.
