Every September, the European Union celebrates European Researchers' Night, an event that brings together more than a million people in 26 countries to "show how European research is vital to our future and welfare and its role notably in combating climate change, achieving the sustainable development goals and promoting healthier environment and lifestyles for European citizens," according to a press release from the EU's Horizon Europe agency.
This year's event will take place in 26 countries, including Iceland, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, and Turkey, and will include presentations, hands-on experiments, visits to labs, games, discussions, and role-playing, as well as digital activities like science shows, quizzes, competitions, exhibitions, and digital activities, according to the press release.
"Every year the European Researchers' Night unveils the wonders of science to children, teachers, parents, and European citizens in fun, entertaining ways, and allow them to discover how our researchers improve our daily lives," says Mariya Gabriel, the EU's commissioner for innovation, research, culture, education, and youth.
Under the "Researchers at Schools" initiative, which will take place in 26 countries over the next two years, researchers will visit more than 2,200 schools, including those in Serbia, Montenegro, Montenegro, Turkey,
