That's because there's a new youth coding league in the state, and it's drawing more and more kids every year, the St.
Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
The Youth Coding League started four years ago in Cape Girardeau with about 100 schools, and it now has more than 800 kids between the ages of 5 and 15 taking part.
The program teaches kids how to code using a variety of languages, including Java, Python, and C, and it's especially important for girls because they're underrepresented in tech jobs, the Kansas City Star reports.
It's not just in Missouri, either.
The program has expanded to four other states, and its director says they're "seeing this [trend] our code lab applicants" are coming from.
