Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC, is getting a big boost from Amazon in the form of a $10 million grant to fund artificial intelligence research, the Washington Post reports.
The money will go to three hospitals: Children's National, Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, and UCLA Medical Center.
The grants will fund some 2,000 clinical research projects at Children's National, which is one of the nation's largest children's hospitals.
“We’re really excited to be one of the first hospitals in the country to take advantage of this technology,” says Dr. Mihailo Kaplarevic, who will be one of three winners of the award.
The idea is to use artificial intelligence to help deliver better care and outcomes for patients, 7 News reports.
Amazon announced the funding at its Amazon Web Services 14th annual summit, which focused on the future of artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
