Backpack Healthcare Secures $14M in Series A Funding to Advance Pediatric Mental Health Care

"Access to mental health support should be a fundamental right for all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status."

That's the message from Hafeezah Muhammad, CEO of Backpack Healthcare, which has just received $14 million in funding in its first round of funding, TechCrunch reports.

According to a press release, the Baltimore-based company uses an AI-powered app to help children and teens with mental health issues.

The funding will be used to expand and enhance Backpack Healthcare's technology platform, as well as to expand its teletherapy services.

Currently operating in Maryland and Virginia, Backpack Healthcare offers individual therapy, medication management, and family therapy through telemedicine and live parent training sessions on topics such as cyberbullying and substance abuse.

"Access to mental health support should be a fundamental right for all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status," Muhammad says.

"Backpack Healthcare's innovative approach and leadership team position it as a frontrunner in delivering quality, accessible, and culturally competent mental health services for children."
