Parents of children with autism have a new source of information: a medical journal.
The Journal Pediatric Clinics of North America, published by the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, will provide "the latest clinical information on health and related issues for children and adolescents," per a press release.
The issue of the journal, titled "Pediatric Management of Autism," was released in April and features five original articles by 10 Kennedy Krieger faculty members.
One of those faculty members, neurodevelopmental pediatrician Paul Lipkin, is one of the guest editors.
"Up to now, limited information has been available to pediatric clinicians and researchers for the longer-term care for autism spectrum disorder throughout childhood," Lipkin says in the press release.
"This addresses a significant gap in resources for those providing critical care to children and youth with autism and pediatricians globally."
Among the articles: Profound Autism: An Imperative Diagnosis Autism Spectrum Disorder at Home and in School Mental Management in Autism Spectrum Disorder Health Crises in Autistic Children: A Framework for Prevention and Intervention in Primary CareMortality and Autism: Suicide and Elopement."
