Apple Vision Pro Used by Boston Companies

Apple's new augmented reality headset is getting a lot of buzz for its ability to help product designers whip up 3D models of products, the Boston Globe reports.

The company is working with companies like Stryker, Bloomberg, and SAP to develop apps for the Vision Pro, which combines video of the real world with digital images.

"I think there will be a great opportunity for us in enterprise," Apple CEO Tim Cook said during a recent earnings call.

"And we couldn't be more excited about where things are right now."

Some companies are already using the headset for internal use, like Boston Children's Hospital, which has developed an app to teach nursing students the basics of IV pumps.

Others are targeting consumers, like home furnishings company Wayfair, which has launched an app that lets Vision Pro users redecorate their homes with 3D images.

Analysts predict that just 1% of enterprise users will adopt augmented reality in the next five years, but that's still a lot of people.

"To have this on someone and allow them to actually continue working, it's going to be a game changer," says Boston Children's Hospital's clinical director of innovation for inpatient medical programs.
