As Israel continues to pound the Gaza Strip and the death toll continues to rise, Gazans are inventing new ways to survive, Vocativ reports.
"We can't get what we need because of the inhumane Israeli blockade," says a Gaza resident.
"No electricity, not enough water, and it's hard to get food and fuel."
But "we don't give up.
We're creative, and we're fighters, driven by the age-old adage, 'Necessity is the mother of invention,'" writes Qamar A.

Here are some of Safadi's "ingenious adaptations" to the blockade: Electrical generator: With an electrical generator out of commission, Gazans have turned to their own devices, connected to car batteries, to run on less gas.
Pot: With fuel and gas in short supply, Gazans have adapted their cooking methods to work with coal, enabling them to bake their bread and nourish their families.
UPS (inverter): With no electricity to charge their UPS machines, Gazans have turned to their own devices, connected to car batteries.
Battery for routers: Internet access is maintained by connecting to small batteries.
