Hexagon and Hendrick Motorsports Partner to Drive Racing Innovation

When it comes to winning NASCAR races, Hendrick Motorsports has been at the top of its game for more than two decades.

Now, it's got a new partner in the form of Hexagon, a Swedish company that specializes in 3D modeling and scanning, reports the Charlotte Observer.

The racing team has been an official sponsor of Hexagon's manufacturing intelligence division since 2009, and the two sides have just announced a 10-year deal that will see Hexagon build a quality control lab on Hendrick's North Carolina campus and provide hardware and software for the next decade.

"A relentless focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to the finest details is what wins races and championships in NASCAR," says Jeff Andrews, president and general manager of Hendrick Motorsports.

"Hexagon's precision products provide us peace-of-mind as we enter race weekends on the cusp of some remarkable milestones," he adds, per a press release.

As part of the deal, Hexagon will donate $1 million to build the lab, which will include portable laser scanners as well as three new coordinate measuring machines that the company says will help Hendrick "push the limits of manpower capacity" and "keep crossing the finish line first."
