Apple Tree Dental Receives Telehealth Innovation Award

When Heather Luebben and Natalie Olsen started Apple Tree Dental in Fargo, ND, 18 years ago, they didn't have enough staff to care for all the kids in the area who needed dental care.

But thanks to virtual dental care, they've been able to provide services to kids with special needs such as autism, developmental delays, and rare genetic conditions without having to leave their homes.

Now, thanks to MouthWatch, Luebben and Olsen have another honor: being recognized as a telehealth pioneer at the fifth annual Teledentistry Innovation Awards.

"Apple Tree Dental and its team of committed providers and staff have been at the forefront of innovation since their formation, with TeleDent now a part of their approach to expanding access to care," MouthWatch founder and CEO Brant Herman says in a press release.

Teledentistry, or virtual dental care, involves sending patients to a dental office, where they can be examined and treated using a computer, smartphone, or even a SMILE SMILE camera.

Apple Tree Dental has been using MouthWatch's teledentistry system for more than 18 years, and it's been instrumental in their efforts to expand access to dental care in under-served areas, per the press release.
