Dolly Partons foundation is putting its money where its mouth is.

The Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas has awarded $3.38 million in grants to public schools, universities, and nonprofit groups in the state over the next five years, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports.

"These grants will impact Arkansans in a powerful way," says Rebecca Pittillo, executive director of the foundation, which is funded by Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

"The organizations that we have funded are focused on improving the lives of people in our communities, which is also our goal at the Blue & You Foundation."

Among the recipients: The Cooper Anthony Mercy Child Advocacy Center was awarded $31,224 to fund a school based child abuse prevention program in seven counties.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in Little Rock was awarded $50,000 to provide a suicide prevention program in five school districts in Baxter, Crawford, and Garland counties.

The University of Arkansas Foundation, Inc., ASMSA, in Hot Springs was awarded $75,000 to develop a health education curriculum integrated within STEM fields, farm to school activities with hands on agriculture experiences, and exposure to new food options, the release said.
