A company that works to make cocoa more sustainable has won a prestigious sustainability award.
The Food Ingredients Innovation Awards in Paris gave the " Sustainability Innovation Award" to Ofi cocoa's Cocoa Compass program, which works to improve the lives of cocoa farmers in nine countries, the Guardian reports.
According to the awards' website, Cocoa Compass "sets challenging goals to tackle the key issues facing cocoa-growing communities and achieve a future in which farmers can earn a living income, children come first, and the natural world is protected."
Ofi says its programs have helped more than 270,000 farmers in nine countries.
"It is a testament to the hard work and dedication that our teams around the world put into creating a better future for cocoa farmers and the natural world every day," Ofi's CEO says.
