"There are still problem statements and pain points that our children's hospitals have identified that we can't find any startups [to] will properly solve,"Omkar Kulkarni, chief digital transformation and innovation officer at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, tells the New York Times.
That's why he's teamed up with Redesign Health, a New York City-based startup, to create a new digital health consortium called KidsX.
The consortium, which includes 32 children's hospitals, will meet later this month to brainstorm needs and come up with business plans.
Members of KidsX will also get early access to ventures being created at Redesign Health.
"I would love to have a spin out for four or five companies through this partnership in the next 24 months," Brenda Schmidt, head of enterprise growth at Redesign Health, tells the Times.
