Creative Play Leaders Celebrating Ten Year Anniversary of Caine's Arcade

In 2012, 9-year-old Caine Monroy was the star of a viral video that captured the world's attention. Now, 10 years later, he'll be the star of another viral video.

The BBC reports filmmaker Nirvan Mullick will direct the sequel to his short film Caine's Arcade, which tells the story of Caine and his elaborate cardboard arcade.

The sequel will be released Sept. 27, 2022, according to a press release from the Two Circus Foundation, the nonprofit that's behind the Cardboard Challenge.

The idea for the sequel came out of Mullick's desire to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Caine's Arcade and the Play-a-thon movement that's sprung up around the world to give kids the tools they need to create their own inventions, according to the press release.

In addition to directing the sequel, Mullick will also serve as executive producer.

Caine's Arcade was a huge success that led to the creation of the Play-a-thon, a global initiative to give kids the tools they need to create their own inventions, according to the press release.

In 2012, more than 2 million kids around the world took part in the Cardboard Challenge, according to the press release.
