A youth entrepreneurship program in Coatesville, Pa., that's been around since 2013 just got a big boost.
NBC Philadelphia reports a $20,000 grant from the NBC10, Telemundo62, and Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation will go toward Soap for Hope, a program that teaches middle and high school students the entrepreneurial mindset and skills they'll need to succeed in today's marketplace.
Soap for Hope's online store, which has already raised more than $32,000 for the program, is run by students who raise money, are taught important entrepreneurial skills, and learn the process of soap-making, among other things.
"We're really excited about this grant because it's going to allow us to train more kids to be entrepreneurs," the program's director tells the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Hope Beyond Borders, which runs the Soap for Hope program as well as a local education program and a youth entrepreneur program in Coatesville, says it has been "making a difference for students in developing communities" for more than 20 years.
