Three Rivers Casino Foundation Awards $1.4 Million To Oregon Nonprofits

The Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians of Oregon have donated more than $1.4 million to more than 100 nonprofits in their home state over the past four years, the Register-Guard reports.

The money comes from the Three Rivers Foundation, a charitable arm of the three tribes that own the Three Rivers Casino Resort.

The foundation supports "innovative ideas, collaborative approaches, and grassroots efforts in education, health, public safety, problem gambling, the arts, environment, cultural activities, and historic preservation," according to an announcement of the grants.

The grants, announced March 22, 2022, were awarded to 50 organizations in Lane County, 28 in Coos, seven in Curry, 10 in Douglas, and five in Lincoln.

"It gives us satisfaction knowing that we're giving to all these entities that are helping people," says Doug Barrett, a tribe council member and the foundation's board chair.

"On the applications it says what they're going to use it for, and how many people it will touch, so it's pretty cool to do this every year."
